we're so happy to have you here! however, just like in every other site, we have a couple of easy rules to help everything run smoothly. first off, i'd like to clear up that you do not have to be familiar with the book in order to join. of course, it's helpful if you've already read it but it is not necessary. if you do decide to register, you can choose whatever username tickles your fancy. however, as soon as you join we ask that you change your username to first last in lowercase letters. we ask that you make one account per character and that you post the completed application as soon as possible. please check the member directory to see if the name you want (either first or last) has already been taken. we really don't want duplicates of names unless, of course, it's the last name and the characters are relatives. also, your character cannot be one of the characters from the book or related to one of them. we ask that you please refrain from posting in any boards until your character has been accepted. the only exceptions are if you want to reserve a canon, face claim, and/or take a wanted ad. we will get to your application as soon as possible. we recommend that while you wait for someone to look at it, you start working on your plot ad. if it's been more than 48 hours and it hasn't been accepted, feel free to pester the staff on the chatbox. once you get accepted, your character will be evaluated and put into their member group. on special occasions, the staff will pm you with important information. make sure to check your inbox and reply, letting us know that you are aware of the new developments. after that you must claim all of your claims and get started posting. general , this is a really great community and we ask that you keep it that way by being respectful to everyone on the site. we want everyone to get along and have a grand old time here. if there is a specific problem between you and another member, try to work it out privately first before bringing it to a staff member. the problem with most sites is that the old members don't really get involved with the new ones. to prevent that from happening, we've established a system that helps new members quickly become a part of this site. the way it works is we have surprise events every 3 weeks that bring together random characters. really, all you have to do right now is just follow the bambi rule and you'll be fine. as you probably know, this is a pg-13 zone, so illegal drugs, alcohol, sex, pornography, excessive violence, or any other form of adult content including profanity are not allowed. just fade out the scenes please. another important thing is activity checks, they will be held once a month. if you don't reply to the thread in the given time, your character will probably be deleted and we will cry. we just want to be as active and updated as possible. so if you're going to be away for awhile, post an absence notice and we will take it into consideration when creating the activity checks. you need at least one thread with your previous character before you can create a new one. sadly, there's a limit of 6 characters before you have to ask a staff member if you can make another. we will decide based on the amount of quality posts your current characters have. also, if you want to make a new character and your last character was a female, it must be male. we just really want to keep the ratios as even as possible since this is a site that emphasizes the forbidden closeness of the sexes. in character , hi! we're almost done here, i promise. okay, so it's really important that all thread titles are in all lowercase letters, and they should include who is tagged. thread posts should be neat and pretty so make sure to code them appropriately. we have a minimum word count of 300 but we encourage you to go above and beyond. we're very picky about posts. bad spelling will get you angry private messages from the staff. use spell check, please please please! chatspeak is also prohibited in-character. unless it's a text message or something. another thing that upsets us very much is godmodding and powerplaying. it is extremely frustrating for other members if you suddenly decide that their character should do what you want/need it to do. there are no invincible characters on this site. also, posting in someone else's thread is not allowed. that's why we have tags! if there is an open thread, make sure that nobody has taken it before replying. the only exception to this are the regulators, which can post in threads that take place in public locations when a character is engaging in illegal activity. the weather and season will be specified in the box thingy at the top where it says 'setting', make sure to check those before starting a thread. it helps with muse and it makes things less confusing. you should keep in mind that there will be a lot of events and such that will also be up there for you to take a look at! graphics , we love love love graphics here at delirium! every account must at least have a 100x100 avatar. however, we encourage larger sizes as long as they don't distrupt the layout. this usually ends up being max 200 in width and 300 in height. the code word for your app are the crossed out letters on this post. the same thing goes for signatures, keep it under 450 width 400 height and we're happy. just make sure that when you write full posts, there is more writing than signature. if we see things getting out of hand, we will ask you to remove the image and suggest a more suitable size. again, make sure your graphics are pg-13. if you need help creating a signature or an avatar don't be afraid to ask by posting in any of the first aid galleries. we'd all love to help you out! if you have any questions we encourage you to ask in the q & a board. it's designed to help you out with whatever you might need. the staff and members all want you to feel happy whenever you sign into this site so if you have thoughts on ways we could make your life easier here, please be sure to let us know. thanks for sticking through all this rambling. and again, welcome!
